...One of the main goals of the PRSP is to provide a country-owned framework whereby differentstakeholders, through public consultations, caninfluence the country poverty strategy and determine priorities in public expenditure. ThePRSP secures national spending on priority sectorsthrough a medium-term expenditure framework(MTEF), which links the PRSP to the planning andbudget cycle in each country. PRSPs also secure donor contributions in support of priority sectorsby strengthening links between poverty reduction,debt relief under the HIPC initiative, and WorldBank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) concessionary lending. The PRSP initiative aims to redesign aid relationships between developingcountries and donors, and provides a broadframework for all external assistance
